Five point nine kilograms. That is what comes off a Multistrada when this header replaces the standard one, and it is the sort of figure that usually turns out to be a misprint. It is not: Ducati's original header assembly carries the catalytic converter and its shielding, and this one carries neither.

This Is Half a System
An optional header is not a stand-alone product. Akrapovic designed it to sit between the engine and the Slip-On Line, and without that muffler there is nothing for it to connect to. S-D12SO9-HAPT is the matching part, and buying this one alone will leave a Multistrada undrivable.
That is stated first because the price does not make it obvious. Together the two come to a considerable sum, and anyone budgeting from this page alone will be short.
Where Six Kilograms Hides
A Euro 4 Multistrada carries its catalytic converter in a box under the engine, wrapped in heat shielding and hung on brackets. All of that is header assembly as far as the scales are concerned. Take the converter out and replace formed steel with titanium tubing, and the 7.4 kg becomes 1.5.
On a 235 kg motorcycle that is not a transformative change in mass. It is, however, five point nine kilograms taken from the lowest point of the bike, which is where it does the most for how the machine changes direction.
The Torque Figure Needs Reading Carefully
Akrapovic records peak torque rising from 121 Nm to 124.45 — an increase of three and a half. It separately records a gain of 13.3 Nm at 3,250 rpm. Both are true and they describe different things: the peak moves a little, while the middle of the range gains a great deal.
Thirteen newton metres at three thousand revs is what a rider actually feels on a Multistrada, because that is the part of the tacho a big tourer lives in.
Measured on the 1260
Akrapovic took its figures from a 2018 Multistrada 1260. The 1200 shares the exhaust route and the part fits it, but the numbers on this page belong to the later, larger engine. A 2015 Multistrada 1200 will not reproduce them exactly.
Louder, and Measurably So
Static noise rises from 99.5 dB to 106 at 4,750 rpm. Six and a half decibels is a substantial jump — roughly a doubling of perceived loudness — and it comes from removing the catalytic converter, which does as much for noise as it does for emissions.
Circuits with a static test at 105 dB will turn this combination away. Check the limit before the entry fee.
Three Model Names
The part covers the Multistrada 1200, the 1200 S and the 1260 from 2015 to 2020. Ducati changed the engine capacity in 2018 and the name with it, but not the way the exhaust leaves the cylinder heads.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use. Fitting it removes the catalytic converter, and no type approval survives that.
