DescriptionThe whole story▼

Early spring is a tricky time on an MV Agusta F4 1000 RR. The tarmac is cold, shaded corners stay damp until noon and a shower can arrive out of nowhere on the way over a pass. This Sintered (ST) front set, listed for the F4 1000 RR from 2012 to 2020, is intended for owners who start their season early, finish it late and want the front lever to feel the same through all of it.

Key Features

  • Sintered (ST) front pads for the MV Agusta F4 1000 RR
  • Model years 2012 to 2020
  • Accossato notes reliable grip in wet conditions
  • High, steady bite at low and high temperatures
  • For early-season, late-season and pass riding
  • Two pads per box, one caliper per box

Construction and Material Quality

Of its Sintered compound, Accossato says that it keeps a high, constant grip level whether temperatures are low or high, and that it grips well in the wet. The value lies in not having to adapt: the front brake responds the same on a frosty morning as after a long descent. Every pad from the Piedmont firm is built around slow wear, stable behaviour through controlled temperatures and firm stopping, and this mixture turns those aims towards riding when conditions are far from ideal.

The Shoulder Seasons on an RR

March and October are when many superbikes stay in the garage, yet they are often the most rewarding months to ride: empty roads, clear air, low sun. They are also the months of cold tyres, wet leaves and sudden rain. On an F4 1000 RR, where the rider leans heavily on the front brake, that uncertainty calls for a compound whose bite does not depend on heat. The Sintered pad is chosen for exactly that. For circuit use, Accossato lists EV1, EV2 and ZXC in the same shape.

Pairing the Ends

A sintered front and a smooth rear make a sensible combination for road riding. For the F4 1000 RR, Accossato lists the rear pad AGPA118 in its Organic mixture, which gives gentle, easily dosed rear braking to complement a steady front. When fitting, clean each front piston before pushing it back, renew the fluid if it has aged, and pump the lever until it is firm before the first ride.

Fitment and Compatibility

This front pad, catalogued as AGPA106, is listed for the MV Agusta F4 1000 RR from 2012 to 2020. Note that the rear listing for the RR starts earlier: AGPA118 covers the F4 1000 R 312 R of 2008 to 2009, the RR of 2010 to 2013 and the RR Corsa Corta of 2012 to 2015. Earlier RRs are therefore not named for this front pad, so owners of 2010 or 2011 bikes should check before ordering. A complete front change needs two boxes, one for each caliper.

Road Approval

We have no ABE, test mark or road approval for this front set, so it is offered for racing and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

One box holding two sintered pads, sufficient for a single caliper. Hardware stays with the bike.
