DescriptionThe whole story▼

Late summer changes an enduro trail. The mud has gone, the ground has baked hard, and a layer of small stones lies on top like ball bearings. Riders call it marbles, and it catches out a front tyre that is braked a little too hard in a turn. On a Husqvarna TE 250, a two-stroke that carries speed easily on dry trails, the result is often a quick slide onto the right-hand side. The B8283 is Accossato's folding brake lever for the TE 250 from 2014 to 2018, machined in Italy from Ergal 7075.

Key Features

  • Folding front brake lever for the Husqvarna TE 250, 2014 to 2018
  • Fitted to the original front brake master cylinder instead of the stock lever
  • Accossato's anti-break joint gives the blade a way to fold forward
  • Short blade for three fingers
  • Machined from solid Ergal 7075 aluminium in Italy
  • Blade in black, blue or orange, base in a dark finish
  • Supplied as one lever
  • No German ABE on record; for off-road and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

The joint is what sets the B8283 apart from a stock lever, and it sits where the lever's two parts meet. One part is the dark base, which stays on the master cylinder pivot; the other is the blade, in the colour you ordered, which can fold forward on the joint. Accossato mills both from solid Ergal 7075 on CNC machines in Italy, choosing the alloy because it offers high strength for little weight, and adds reliability as a third aim. As with its other off-road brake levers, the blade is short and made for three fingers.

Marbles on Dry Hardpack

Grip on hard ground covered with loose stones is not zero, it is just unpredictable. The tyre rolls on the pebbles, finds the firm surface beneath, loses it again. Braking in a straight line is manageable, but once the bike leans into a turn the front has little margin, and one squeeze too many lets it slide out to the inside. Experienced riders brake early, scrub off speed while the bike is still upright and roll through the corner on a steady throttle. On the TE 250 that habit is worth building from the first dry weekend.

Habits take time, and meanwhile the front will wash out now and then. When it does in a right-hand turn, the bike lands on its right side and slides a few metres across the stones with the brake lever pressed into the ground. That is the moment the B8283's joint exists for: the blade may fold forward and ride out the slide intact, and if it does, you stand the TE 250 up and carry on with a working front brake. It won't come through every slide, and hardpack with embedded rock can be harsh, but the odds are better than with a solid blade.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the B8283 for the Husqvarna TE 250 two-stroke across 2014 to 2018, taking in both version groups it names, 2014 to 2016 and 2017 to 2018, and a variant it lists as TE 250 L. On the bike, the stock lever comes off and this one goes onto the existing front brake master cylinder. For the clutch there are two folding levers, depending on the year: the C7283 for 2014 to 2016, also available in red, and the C7284 for 2017 and 2018.

Road Approval

No German ABE is available for the B8283. The TE 250 is an enduro that is often registered for the road, but this lever is intended for off-road riding and competition and is not approved on public roads.
