Most choices in the Sprint Filter range are between cloths that cost about the same. This one is not. The airbox of a ZX6R/ABS takes the standard P08 or this racing element, which costs about two and a half times as much, and in the hand they look alike. What separates them is a flow figure that only becomes visible under one narrow condition — and a 600 supersport is one of the few road bikes able to meet it.
Key Features
- Dry woven polyester in the racing F1-85 specification, never oiled
- 85 µm of filtration at 15,000 l/m²/sec — the highest flow figure in the range
- Measured retention of 95.22 % of 100-micron particles, against 93.13 % for the P08
- Roughly twice the filtering surface of other performance elements
- Takes the paper panel's place in the standard airbox — nothing cut, nothing remapped
- Cleaned with compressed air and refitted; two years of warranty
What the flow ceiling needs in order to matter
Every medium has a limit on how much air it passes per unit of area and time, and that limit only counts where the engine's demand comes close to it. Demand climbs with revs. A 600 four keeps its useful power at the top of the tacho and asks for air there in a rush; on a big twin at 5,000 rpm the same cloth is never asked a hard question. So the condition is worth naming: the bike held in the upper part of its rev range, repeatedly, session after session. That is a track day or a race weekend, not a commute. Miss it and you have bought 15,000 l/m²/sec you will never see; the P08 at 80 µm and 5,050 was already ahead of anything you asked of it.
The size of the prize
Even then, keep the claim the right size. A filter gives back only the restriction it caused itself, so a drop-in element does not make a standard ZX6R/ABS noticeably stronger — no cloth returns what the silencer, the ports or the calibration are holding. What this one buys is headroom and repeatability: an intake that is not the first thing to run out at full demand, and a part that returns to the same condition after every cleaning instead of tightening quietly across a season. The finer cloths trade the other way — the P14 passes 1,800 l/m²/sec at 14 µm, the T12 just 560 at 7 µm: each step buys retention and spends flow, a trade rather than a ranking.
Care and cleaning
Servicing the PM92S F1-85 is dry work: compressed air against the clean face, blown outwards, is a normal clean in full. After a wet meeting or a salted road, wash it in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent and rinse until the water runs clear. Let it dry right through in moving air — never with a heat gun, on a radiator or over a flame, as heat destroys polyester — then refit it dry. Nothing is oiled at any point. The maintenance sheet sits in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Cut for the standard airbox of the Kawasaki ZX6R/ABS, 2013 to 2026. The element covers two machines, the other the ZX6R Ninja ABS of the same years; both are named in the Fitment tab. The same airbox is also listed with the P08 cloth, the cheaper setting and, on the road, the more sensible one.
