Eighteen point eight kilos of standard exhaust, replaced by five and a half. The Kawasaki ZX-14R has the heaviest stock system Spark lists for any bike, and this is what happens when all of it comes off.
Key Features
- Complete racing exhaust system for the Kawasaki ZZR1400 and ZX-14R, 2012 to 2021.
- AISI 304 stainless steel header set, 60 mm diameter.
- Konix silencer in titanium.
- 5.5 kg complete against 18.8 kg for the standard system — 13.3 kg removed from the motorcycle.
- Not approved for road use. Track and closed-course use only.
- Removable db killer supplied with the system.
- Spark part number GKA8813T, made by Spark in Mantova, Italy.
Thirteen Kilos
The figure is not a typo. Kawasaki's standard system on the ZX-14R is a four-into-two with twin catalysed silencers, and it weighs 18.8 kg. Spark's replacement weighs 5.5 kg, headers included.
Thirteen point three kilos is roughly what a full tank of fuel weighs on this bike. Removing it does more for the way a 1400 changes direction than any single suspension change at the same money, and it does it without touching the geometry.
Stainless Headers, Titanium Silencer
Spark builds the header set in AISI 304 stainless at 60 mm, and the silencer in titanium. The split is deliberate. Stainless takes the heat and the stone strikes down at the front of the engine and stays dimensionally stable through thousands of heat cycles; titanium does the weight saving where the volume, and therefore the mass, is greatest.
The result is a system that survives a season of track days rather than one that only looks good on a workbench.
The Konix Silencer
Konix is Spark's wedge-profile silencer: a tapered body with a flat cut at the outlet, sized here for a 1400 cc four. On a bike this size the silencer has to move a lot of gas, and the Konix body has the volume to do it without the reedy note a short can gives a big engine.
Road Approval: None
This system is not homologated and Spark does not offer a certificate for it. It is sold for sports use, and in most of Europe fitting it to a road-registered motorcycle means the machine is no longer legal to use on public roads.
The db killer is removable, which is a track convenience — many circuits enforce their own noise limit — not a route to road legality. If you want a road-legal exhaust for a ZX-14R, this is not the article; ask us and we will point you at what is.
Who Buys This
Spark is direct about the intended owner: the system is for sports use, and for riders who want to radically change the character of their ZX-14. That is a fair description. A 1400 with 13 kilos of exhaust removed and an open titanium silencer is a different motorcycle from the one Kawasaki delivers — louder, sharper on the throttle, and noticeably more willing to turn.
It is also a motorcycle that belongs on a circuit. If the bike spends its weekends on track days and its weekdays under a cover, this system makes complete sense. If it is your only bike and it has to get you to work on Monday, it does not.
Fitment & Compatibility
Kawasaki ZZR1400 and ZX-14R, including ABS versions, 2012 to 2021. This is a full system: the standard headers, catalyst and both silencers come off. Fuelling should be checked on a dyno afterwards — a system this much freer changes what the engine wants.
