Öhlins uses a piston band rather than metal-to-metal contact, which is what keeps the bore intact.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 05665-00

What It Is

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. Rebuilding a piston means keeping the shim order, because the stack is the tuning. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Genuine Service Part

Öhlins supports its suspension with individual service parts, which is why a fifteen-year-old damper can still be rebuilt to specification. Öhlins keeps service parts available for units long after they leave the current price list. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute.

Identifying the Right Part

Order under 05665-00. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. This position has no published dimension, so the part number is the only reliable identifier. Port area sets how much oil can pass before the shims begin to lift. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05665-00

Category: Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05665-00_582a6e74-39d7-49c6-8b60-96212d43b402.png?v=1788876978
