Shaft jet bleed 3.5/M7/18, Öhlins part number 05505-10. Valves and needles set the adjustable part of the damping; the piston sets the rest.

Key Features

  • Thread M7
  • Diameter 7 mm
  • Original Öhlins service part
  • Length 18 mm
  • Öhlins part number 05505-10

What It Is

Dimensionally this is 7 mm, 18 mm, which is how it is told apart from the rest of the range. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually. Rebuilding a piston means keeping the shim order, because the stack is the tuning. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Genuine Service Part

Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. The Öhlins exploded view names the number for each position; we can look it up if you do not have it.

Getting the Number Right

05505-10 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. The published dimensions are diameter 7 mm, length 18 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Jets meter fixed bleed flow and are sized in tenths of a millimetre. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft.

Fitting and Setup Service

We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.
