DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Triumph Tiger 1200 XR is the road-oriented member of the big Tiger range, a comfortable machine for touring, commuting and long days in the mountains. Accossato lists its front pad AGPA177 for the XR in 2018 and 2019, and AGPA177ST is the Sintered version. On this pad it is the everyday choice among the compounds offered, intended for riders who want the front brake to grip strongly in rain, cold and heat, with a passenger and luggage aboard.

Key Features

  • Sintered front pads AGPA177 for the Triumph Tiger 1200 XR, 2018 and 2019
  • SKU AGPA177ST
  • Accossato: high, constant grip at high and low temperatures, reliable in the wet
  • The road and touring compound of this pad
  • Steady lever feel with pillion and cases
  • Suitable for riding in every season
  • Other versions of this pad: EV1, EV2 and ZXC
  • No test documents on file; offered for competition use

Construction and Material Quality

According to Accossato, the Sintered compound keeps a high and even grip level at both high and low temperatures and bites well on a wet disc. For the front of a heavy touring bike like the Tiger 1200 XR, that is exactly the behaviour you want when conditions change during the day. Accossato also designs its pads to wear slowly, to limit heat and fade, and to stop with authority.

One Pad for Every Kind of Trip

The XR is often the only motorcycle in its owner's garage, so it has to do everything: the wet commute in November, a weekend two-up in the Dolomites, a long motorway run to the ferry. Among the compounds Accossato offers for this front pad, the Sintered version is the one built for that broad, everyday use; the other three lean towards the circuit. It gives the front brake a consistent feel from the first cold stop of the morning to the last hot stop at the bottom of a pass, and it keeps gripping when the road is wet.

Front Brake Checks

A big touring bike is hard on its front pads. Check thickness regularly, look at the discs for scoring or lips at the edge and replace the fluid at the recommended interval. Keep the discs free of polish, wax and silicone sprays.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA177 for the front brake of the Tiger 1200 XR in the model years 2018 and 2019, and AGPA76 for the rear over the same years. Each box contains one set for a single caliper, so check how many front calipers your XR carries before ordering. Replace pads axle by axle, clean the pistons before pushing them back and bed the new pads in with a series of moderate stops.

Road Approval

We hold no German ABE and no test mark for AGPA177ST, so it is offered for racing and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

Two Sintered front pads for one caliper.
