DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha V-Max has been a fixture of workshop walls since 1986, first as the machine that invented its own class and later, from 2009, as a larger and more expensive interpretation of the same idea. Accossato lists both, and both are treated by their owners less as transport than as projects. Machines like that attract parts chosen for how they are made as much as for what they do. The FC124 is the quick-release fuel tank cap Accossato gives for the V-Max, machined from aluminium with a pin available in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Yamaha V-Max
- Accossato lists the V-Max 1200 for 1986 to 2001 and the V-Max 1700 for 2009 to 2016
- Aluminium, machined throughout on CNC equipment
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and closing the tank
- Pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Spare pawl available on its own
- Check which entry applies to your machine
- No German ABE documented; for closed circuits
Construction and Material Quality
Everything here is aluminium, shaped on CNC machines, which Accossato presents as the reason the cap is robust and durable; the design is its own. A quick-closing pawl holds it and releases it in one movement, so the V-Max's tank is opened without a key and without a thread to line up. The pin inside the pawl is the piece you choose a colour for, with six on the list, and it is also the piece that can be reordered separately if it is ever damaged.
Custom Projects and Machined Details
Builders working on a machine of this kind think in materials. Polished cases, anodised fasteners, a seat made by somebody local, and small parts chosen because the finish is right rather than because the catalogue said so. A cap cut from solid aluminium belongs in that world, and the coloured pin gives a project a point of accent that costs nothing to change later. One thing has to be said plainly, though, and it applies whatever the machine looks like when it is finished: this cap carries no German approval, so a V-Max that is going to be registered and ridden on the road is not the place for it. On a show bike or a closed-course machine, that limitation does not arise.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's two entries are the V-Max 1200 for 1986 to 2001 and the V-Max 1700 for 2009 to 2016, and this listing covers both. Machines built between those blocks are not named for this cap. In our range the FC124 is also filed under the FJR1300, the MT-10 and the FZ1 Fazer. Please compare your machine with the application list before ordering.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no parts certificate documented for this cap, which is why we sell it for closed circuits and static use. A V-Max ridden on public roads keeps the cap it was built with, normally opened with the ignition key.
