DescriptionThe whole story▼
A supermoto rider sliding into a corner, foot out and rear wheel stepping wide, is part of what makes the 690 SMC R appealing. The slide is managed with the left hand as much as with the right foot, because the clutch decides how much engine braking reaches the rear tyre and therefore how far it steps out. Accossato's ESA090, a machined aluminium clutch lever listed for 2013 to 2023, puts that control within easy reach through its adjustable distance from the grip.

Construction and Material Quality
Supermoto clutch work consists of tiny, quick movements around the friction point, sometimes made while the bike is already sliding. The ESA090 is produced by CNC milling from aluminium and anodised in two colours, the hub black and the blade in the shade you choose. Pivot and reach adjustment sit in the hub; the blade extends from it as a solid, fixed piece without a folding section. Because nothing along its length can flex or shift, those small movements become repeatable, and on the 690 SMC R the same movement of the fingers gives the same result each time.
The Left Hand Manages the Slide
Backing a supermoto into a corner starts on the brakes: firm pressure on the front, a downshift or two, and a quick but controlled release of the clutch so that engine braking loads the rear tyre until it begins to slide. From there, the left hand takes over. Pulling the lever in slightly reduces the engine braking and lets the rear come back in line; letting it out further lets the slide grow. It is a delicate game played in fractions of a second, and it needs a lever within easy reach of two fingers while the other two keep hold of the bar. On the 690 SMC R, set the reach so that you can hold the friction point without the wrist dropping, and consider the short blade, which keeps the outer fingers free. Learn the technique gradually on a kart track or another closed area rather than on the road, starting with small slides before trying bigger ones. Even riders who never slide on purpose benefit from the same set-up when the rear steps out unexpectedly after a hurried downshift.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESA090 is given for the 690 SMC R from 2013 to 2023 and fits where KTM mounted the original clutch lever. For the right hand, the matching part is the EDB012 brake lever, which Accossato lists for the 690 SMC and SMC R from 2008 to 2021.
Road Approval
For this clutch lever, no German ABE is documented. It is intended and sold for the track.
