Panniers, a big screen, a passenger seat you would actually volunteer for: the California Touring exists to cover long distances at a steady pace. That is the least dramatic thing a motorcycle does and among the most demanding things you can ask of an air filter, because the airflow never lets up. There is no coasting, no traffic, no minute at idle to recover — the engine draws a high, constant volume for hours and the element carries that load the whole time. The Sprint Filter P08 PM01S is sized for it.

Sustained is harder than peak

Restriction is usually quoted as a number measured for a few seconds on a dyno, and a touring rider never encounters that figure. What they encounter is a long stretch where the pressure drop across the element is a continuous cost, on a loaded bike where the engine is already working harder than it would solo. Both point the same way: more surface to keep the continuous restriction low, and a dry medium so nothing in the intake responds to a warm airbox.

Eight model years, one part

The Touring ran from 2013 to 2020, and PM01S also covers the Custom, Audace and Eldorado versions of the same 1400, the Griso and Stelvio lines, the V85 range and Aprilia's V4 family — twenty-seven machines. The filter outlasts the model.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air from the clean side outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame. Refit dry; there is no oiling step.
