DescriptionThe whole story▼
Replacing the 790 Adventure with a larger parallel-twin, the 890 Adventure (2021-2026) is pitched more towards road-biased travel without losing gravel-road ability. The JP ACCGP KT016 fits it with a 60-degree throttle stroke and a progressive spring, keeping a precise feel across both kinds of surface.
Key Features
- KTM 890 Adventure (2021–2026)
- GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
- Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
- Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
- Standard throttle assembly refits at any time
More Engine, Same Need for Precision
KTM increased displacement for this generation, giving more torque at a given throttle opening than the outgoing 790 produced. That extra output makes precise throttle control more valuable, not less, and a shorter rotation keeps the hand's input matched to how much the engine now delivers for a given movement.
A Travel Bike That Still Sees Gravel
Even road-biased owners of the 890 Adventure end up on forest roads and unpaved detours occasionally, and a throttle built around precise, short-rotation control works on both surfaces rather than being optimised for one and tolerated on the other. That versatility is part of why this platform sells as well as it does.
Preload for Two Very Different Days
A rider might spend one weekend on motorway transit between countries and the next on a gravel loop through the hills, and the three external preload stages let the spring's resistance match whichever kind of day it happens to be, adjusted without opening the housing.
Standing Briefly, Sitting Mostly
Unlike its R sibling, the standard 890 Adventure is ridden seated most of the time, with standing reserved for rougher patches. The shorter throttle rotation still helps in both postures, since wrist angle changes less than the travel needed to reach full throttle does.
Machined Ergal for Long-Term Reliability
This body is milled from solid Ergal 7075 rather than cast, holding tight tolerances that matter on a bike expected to cover tens of thousands of kilometres over its life rather than a handful of weekend rides. Few components at this price point are machined to that standard.
A Clean Return to Stock
The factory throttle body unbolts and refits without complication if a dealer needs it during warranty work or an owner later prefers the original feel, finished with the usual ECU relearn of throttle position either way. That reassurance matters more than most riders expect until they need it.
