DescriptionThe whole story▼

A BMW R nineT Racer is not the obvious bike for a Monday morning, and a good many owners ride one anyway. Clip-on bars put your weight on your wrists in slow traffic, the boxer thuds away beneath you at walking pace, and the front brake is asked for the same short, careful stop at every set of lights between home and work. Accossato builds its AGPA96 front pad in an Organic compound for exactly that kind of week, and lists it for the Racer of 2017 to 2020.

Key Features

  • Front brake pads for the BMW R nineT Racer, model years 2017 to 2020
  • AGPA96 pad shape in the Organic compound, article number AGPA96OR
  • Accossato enters the machine in its list as the R 1200 nine T Racer
  • One box holds two pads, which is what a single caliper takes
  • The maker describes a material that keeps working over a long life and is easy on the disc
  • Drawn for town work, commuting and unhurried road riding
  • The same shape is also produced in ST, EV1, EV2 and ZXC
  • No German ABE on record, so we supply it for track and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

What separates this article number from its relatives is the friction material pressed onto the plate. Accossato's account of the Organic mixture comes down to two points: it carries on performing over a long service life, and it holds down wear on the disc. Both count on a machine whose front discs sit in plain view and are not cheap to renew. Softer materials of this family also reach their working temperature quickly, which is worth more on a ride of ten minutes than on a mountain pass. A box contains the pair that fills one caliper, no more.

The First Junction of the Morning

Front brakes are at their least willing on the first stop of the day. The discs are cold and often damp, a night of dew or a shower has left a film across them, and on an R nineT Racer you sit forward over the tank with the front wheel carrying most of what grip there is. Riders who commute on this bike learn to reach for the lever early and squeeze instead of grabbing, so that the first application clears the disc and the second one slows the machine. A compound that answers while it is still cold suits that rhythm, and the short hops of a working week rarely let a front brake get properly hot anyway. The rest is ten minutes of care on a Saturday: look at how much friction material is left on each pad, run a finger over the disc face for ridges, glance at the fluid, and give a fresh set a few dozen gentle stops on a quiet road before you rely on them in traffic.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's application list puts the AGPA96 on the front wheel of the R nineT Racer built between 2017 and 2020, entered as the R 1200 nine T Racer. Count the calipers on your own front wheel before ordering, since one box serves one of them. For the back wheel of the same bike and the same years the firm lists the AGPA29, and it also catalogues the DK006 disc for the Racer. Model years outside that span are not covered here.

Road Approval

We hold no test certificate and no German ABE for the AGPA96 in this material, which is why it goes out for track days and competition rather than for public roads.

Scope of Delivery

Two AGPA96 pads in the Organic compound, the set for one caliper.
