Universal ends, targeted middle

The 7-micron mat exists here for the GS alone and the 14-micron mat for the two road machines; those are choices about intended use. The standard weave and the racing weave carry no such distinction, which is a reasonable clue about how they are meant to be read — one as the default, the other as the material at the top of the catalogue rather than a recommendation for a particular bike. Reading it that way avoids the trap of assuming the most expensive row on a fitment list is the one aimed at you.

What a 310 can use

An element cannot supply more air than the engine draws, and a 310 cm³ single is not going to approach 15,000 l/m²/sec. It is worth saying plainly: in an unmodified airbox this element leaves a standard G 310 GS exactly as strong as it was, and the flow rating describes the medium, not a result on this machine. What transfers is the measured retention and the dry, washable construction — a slightly more selective screen with nothing to spray and nothing to migrate downstream.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air held against the clean face of the PM189S F1-85 and swept outwards is the routine service. When that is no longer enough, lukewarm water with a mild detergent finishes it; rinse until nothing clouds the runoff. Dry the panel in moving air at room temperature only, since heat spoils a woven medium without leaving a mark. It is refitted dry, with nothing applied to it.
