DescriptionThe whole story▼

YA 468 is the Öhlins number for the Yamaha MT-10 as sold between 2016 and 2025. Rear grip is decided by how the damper controls load transfer, not by the tyre alone.

Key Features

  • Integrated hydraulic spring-preload adjuster
  • Damping piston: 36 mm
  • Gas-pressurised damper with a piggyback external reservoir
  • Adjustable overall length for ride-height and geometry changes
  • Adjustable rebound damping through a dedicated click adjuster on the damper body
  • Fitted spring: Öhlins 21041-29 (Y)
  • Model-specific fitment for the Yamaha MT-10 (2016–2025) — no modification required
  • Adjustable compression damping via the gold click adjuster

The MT-10 in Particular

Öhlins covers the 10-year production run of this generation with a single part number, which means the mounting and the linkage stayed unchanged across it. A naked bike is usually ridden on the road rather than the track, and the suspension has to cope with real surfaces.

Where This Sits in the Öhlins Line-up

The TTX GP is the shock Öhlins developed from its racing programme and then made available over the counter. Öhlins supplies the TTX GP with a hydraulic preload adjuster on most applications, so ride height changes take seconds. The practical result is that the first click of adjustment feels the same as the twentieth.

Materials and Manufacture

Öhlins sets a baseline for each part number on the machine it was developed on, so it works before anything is adjusted. Service parts stay available for years after a part number leaves the current price list. Shafts are hardened and surface-treated so the seal has a consistent surface to run against.

Damping and Adjustment

Öhlins fits a 90 N/mm spring to this number; riders far from average weight should expect to change it. The damping piston measures 36 mm across, and piston area is what keeps damping force stable once the oil is hot. Length runs to 315 +6/-0 mm, so rake and trail on the MT-10 become something to dial rather than inherit. With 60 mm of stroke the damping curve has to do its work in a short distance. Compression and rebound are adjusted independently, so support under load can be set without changing how fast the wheel returns. Preload is set separately again, and preload is what determines static sag rather than damping.

Fitment and Compatibility

Öhlins releases YA 468 against the Yamaha MT-10 (2016–2025). 4 machines in the range take this number, the Yamaha MT-10 among them. Öhlins notes for this application: *Replaces YA 416*

Road Approval

Road approval: ABE (Germany). The unit is covered by a German ABE for the Yamaha MT-10, so no individual inspection or entry in the vehicle documents is required. The approval document ships with the product.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its suspension is fitted by an authorised service centre. We are one, and we do the work here: installation, servicing and a proper setup. Ask us and we will include it with the order.
