DescriptionThe whole story▼

Ceramic is a word that sells well and explains little. In Accossato's pad list it marks one specific entry, the ZXC ceramic racing material, which the company describes as a ceramic compound made for racing. It can be ordered on the AGPA92 rear plate, and that plate fits the rear wheel of a BMW K 1600 Grand America built from 2018 onwards. If you are looking at this article number for a six-cylinder tourer, here is what it actually is and who normally buys it.

Key Features

  • Rear pads for the BMW K 1600 Grand America, 2018 to 2026
  • AGPA92ZXC: the rear plate carrying the ZXC ceramic racing material
  • Accossato describes the compound as ceramic and intended for racing
  • The plate, and therefore the fit in the caliper, is common to the whole range
  • Two pads in the box, which completes the single rear caliper
  • Four alternative materials exist on the same plate for other kinds of riding
  • Front pads for this machine are listed as AGPA57; the DK007 disc is also offered
  • No German ABE in our files; supplied for competition and track use

Construction and Material Quality

The way the range is built explains why this option exists at all. Accossato draws a plate for each fitment and then lets the customer pick the face, so every material in the catalogue is available wherever the plate is. ZXC is the ceramic member of that family and the firm points it at competition without qualifying the statement further. We will not add claims of our own on top: no figures, no promises about how it behaves on a particular disc, because none have been given to us. What is certain is the physical side. The pad is dimensionally the same as its siblings, and the box holds the pair that a rear caliper takes.

Who Normally Orders This One

The usual customer for a ceramic racing pad is working to a timetable measured in sessions. They arrive with spares, change pads as a planned job rather than when something feels wrong, and judge a material by how a lap feels at the end of a run. Their machine is light, their brakes get hot deliberately, and everything is looked over before it goes out again. A K 1600 Grand America lives in a different world entirely, one of long days, heavy loads and weather. Choosing a competition material for it is not forbidden, but it is a decision rather than an upgrade, and it should be made with clear eyes. Whatever material ends up in the caliper, the same rules apply: renew both pads together, bed a fresh set in gently, and keep the rear disc clean.

Fitment and Compatibility

The application data covers the AGPA92 at the rear of the K 1600 Grand America for 2018 to 2026. The rear wheel has one caliper, so one box is a complete change. Owners looking for a material written around touring will find the Organic (OR) and sintered options on the same plate, with EV1 in between, while the front wheel of the K 1600 Grand America takes the AGPA57 and Accossato also lists the DK007 disc for this model.

Road Approval

No German ABE, no approval mark and no test report has reached us for the AGPA92ZXC. It is sold for competition and circuit use, which in the case of a material described as a racing compound is also where it was always meant to go.

Scope of Delivery

Two Accossato AGPA92 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing compound, boxed as one rear caliper set.
