DescriptionThe whole story▼

On the Superveloce 800, as on most sports bikes, a shorter rider may reach the ground only with the balls of the feet. The bike is steady once it is moving; the delicate moment comes at the lights, when it stands balanced on tiptoe and has to pull away cleanly. That moment belongs to the clutch. The Accossato ESM048 is a CNC-machined clutch lever for MV Agusta's three-cylinder retro sports bike, listed from 2020 to 2025, with adjustable reach and three blade lengths.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the MV Agusta Superveloce 800, 2020 to 2025
  • Accossato's list includes the 75, Alpine and S versions
  • Replaces the standard lever at the original clutch mounting
  • Reach to the grip adjustable
  • Standard blade of about 138 mm; short and long in selected colours
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
  • Rigid blade, no folding joint

Construction and Material Quality

A clutch lever is pulled thousands of times in a season, and the way it was made shows over the years. Accossato mills the ESM048 from solid aluminium on CNC machines and anodises it afterwards: black for the hub, which carries the pivot and the reach adjuster, and a colour of your choice for the blade. Machining keeps the shape identical from lever to lever; anodising leaves a hard, coloured surface that belongs to the metal. Between hub and tip there is no hinge. The ESM048 is a fixed lever.

On Tiptoe at the Lights

When only the balls of your feet touch the tarmac, balance at a standstill depends on keeping the bike upright and still, and pulling away depends on a clutch that engages without a jolt. A sudden bite can make the bike wobble just as your foot leaves the ground; a hesitant one lets it roll back on an incline. The remedy is a friction point you can find without thinking. Set the ESM048's reach so that the fingers hold the blade comfortably when it is pulled in, with the wrist straight on the clip-on, then practise a few starts in a quiet place until the take-up on your Superveloce 800 feels predictable. It also helps to choose where you stop: a level patch of tarmac, free of painted lines and loose grit, away from the dip at the edge of the road. Many shorter riders shift slightly on the seat at a stop so that one foot goes down flat. If the pull feels heavy through a long string of traffic lights, the long blade, in blue, gold, green or orange, reduces the effort; the short one suits riders who prefer two fingers on the lever.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the ESM048 for the Superveloce 800 from 2020 to 2025. Its entries include a 2020 version listed as Superveloce 800 75, the Alpine of 2021 and 2022 and the Superveloce 800 S from 2021. The lever fits the original clutch mounting in place of the standard part. For the brake side, Accossato's EDF099 is listed for the Superveloce 800 from 2023 to 2025 only, so on bikes from the first three model years this clutch lever cannot be paired with the EDF099. The Ago and Serie Oro editions have their own products in our range.

Road Approval

No ABE for German roads has been documented for the ESM048; we sell it for circuit riding.
