DescriptionThe whole story▼
A track day is rarely a solo affair. On a ZX-10R you share the circuit with riders of every speed, and in the braking zones in particular, how you brake affects the people around you. A rider who brakes at a different point every lap, or much earlier than the line suggests, is hard to follow and hard to pass. The Accossato EDF088 is a brake lever for the Kawasaki ZX-10R of 2006 to 2015, CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised. It fits the original master cylinder, and its reach can be adjusted so that the braking stays consistent from one lap to the next.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Kawasaki ZX-10R, 2006 to 2015
- Mounts on the original front master cylinder
- Reach adjustable at the hub
- Machined from aluminium and anodised
- Standard blade approx. 138 mm in all seven colours
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange or silver; long in blue, gold, green or orange
- Rigid, one-piece lever with black hub
- Track use: no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Consistency starts with a lever that behaves the same way every time. The EDF088 is a fixed lever, CNC-machined as one piece of aluminium with no folding joint to introduce play or flex, so the point where the brake begins to bite does not wander. It is anodised after machining, the hub carrying the pivot and reach adjuster in black, the blade in the colour you order. Anodising also hardens the surface, which helps it cope with the grit thrown up on a circuit.
Predictable Braking in Company
Predictability is a courtesy on track. Choose your braking markers in the first sessions, build up to them gradually, and then brake at roughly the same place every lap, so faster riders can plan their pass and slower ones know where you will be. Avoid sudden, unexpected braking on the racing line, and if you need to slow down or head for the pit lane, signal and move off the line in good time, as the briefing will explain. A lever setting that never changes supports all of this. Adjust the EDF088 on your ZX-10R before the first session, in the gloves you ride in on track, and then leave it alone for the day. Many track riders brake with two fingers, and the short blade suits that grip; the standard length of approximately 138 mm, available in every colour, is closest to the original part.
Fitment and Compatibility
Three generations of the superbike are covered: Accossato's entry for the EDF088 spans the ZX-10R from 2006 to 2015. It mounts on the original front master cylinder. For the 2016 to 2020 ZX-10R, the brake lever to choose is the EDF099 instead. The clutch side is handled by the ESK828, which Accossato lists for every ZX-10R from 2004 to 2020.
Road Approval
The EDF088 has no German ABE documented and is sold exclusively for the track.
