DescriptionThe whole story

The XSR900 GP makes it easy to arrive at a corner faster than intended. ZCOO answers with the S001, 69.5 by 50.5 mm of ceramic-sintered friction material cut for the Sumitomo caliper. The compound is EXR, ZCOO's 2026 answer for XSR900 GP riders who found EX Race short on authority.

Key Features

  • No proprietary tooling needed: the S001 drops into the Sumitomo caliper the XSR900 GP already has
  • Laser-cut backing plate holds the friction face flat when the Sumitomo caliper spreads under peak line pressure
  • Listed for the Yamaha XSR900 GP across 11 model years (2016 to 2026)
  • Pad code ZRM-S001C, 69.5 mm long and 50.5 mm tall - a direct fit in the standard caliper
  • New backing plate alloy, specified with the compound instead of carried over from the EXC Endurance mixture EXR replaces
  • The S001 shape also serves 27 further machines in the ZCOO 2026 catalogue, so availability stays good

Construction and Material Quality

Construction on the S001 follows ZCOO's racing practice throughout. The friction layer of the S001 is bonded by a joining process Okada Corporation developed against the failure that ends most sintered pads. It is also why ZCOO can quote fade resistance beyond 600 degrees for the S001 without qualifying it.

Performance and Feel

EXR was mixed for riders who found EX Race short on authority on a machine like the Yamaha XSR900 GP. On the Yamaha XSR900 GP that means a lever which still has something to say at the end of the zone. For an XSR900 GP that is the difference between a hard stop and a fright.

Fitment and Compatibility

The S001 is ZCOO's listed reference for the Yamaha XSR900 GP between 2016 and 2026. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 69.5 mm length and 50.5 mm height. The S001 is a front pad only. The same S001 shape covers 27 further machines in the 2026 catalogue.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
