The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
Two different motorcycles have worn the name Multistrada V2, and only one of them takes this element. The first, built from 2022 to 2024, kept the 937 cc twin of the Multistrada 950 it replaced. The second arrived for 2025 with Ducati's new 890 cc V2 engine and a different airbox, and Sprint Filter lists a different code for it. PM127S belongs to the first. Check the model year before anything else — on this motorcycle the name on the tank settles nothing.
Key Features
- A single dry layer of woven polyester, rated at 80 µm, with threads from 22 µm across
- Rated flow of 5,050 l/m²/sec through clean cloth
- Retains 93.13 % of 100-micron test particles, against 76.42 % for four-layer oiled cotton
- Roughly twice the filtering area of other performance elements
- Replaces the paper panel directly: nothing cut, no remap, and the V2 and V2 S take the same part
- Never oiled, washed rather than replaced, with two years of warranty from the date of purchase
Why the code followed the engine, not the name
Sprint Filter numbers its elements by housing, and a housing follows an engine far more closely than it follows a model name. When the Multistrada 950 became the V2 for 2022, the twin and its airbox carried over, which is why PM127S is the same part a 950 owner has been able to fit since 2017. The V2 and the V2 S differ in suspension and electronics, not in the intake. And the same code turns up across twenty-one Ducati models in all, from Panigale superbikes to the Scrambler 1100 — a part with that many machines behind it does not quietly drop out of the catalogue.
What the P08 does, and when it is the wrong pick
The P08 is the road-and-track weave, and on a Multistrada V2 that covers nearly everything the bike is bought for: commuting, touring two-up, a mountain pass on a Sunday. It does not add power — no element in an unmodified airbox makes a standard V2 noticeably stronger — and a listing that suggests otherwise is selling a wish. What it offers is an intake restriction that returns to where it started every time the element is cleaned, instead of creeping up through the life of a paper panel. Where it is the wrong pick is sustained dust: for long gravel stages Sprint Filter makes the T12 for this housing, a 7-micron nonwoven that gives up most of the flow for a far finer catch.
Care and cleaning
Blow PM127S through with an air line held on the clean side and worked outwards, so the dirt leaves by the face it arrived on. Road film and insect residue that air will not shift come out in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent; rinse until the water runs clear. Let it dry in moving air at room temperature — never with a heat gun, a radiator or a flame — and refit it dry, with nothing sprayed onto it. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Ducati Multistrada V2 and V2 S built from 2022 to 2024, with the 937 cc twin. The Multistrada V2 of 2025 onwards, with the 890 cc engine, is not covered by this code; it takes PM279S. In all, twenty-one Ducati models share this element, and the Fitment tab lists them with their year windows.
