DescriptionThe whole story▼

Accossato lists its front pad AGPA29 for the Triumph Tiger 800 XCA of 2018 in the Off-road sintered compound: AGPA29STMX. The XCA is the most off-road-capable of the Tiger 800 range, and this pad is for owners who use that ability: muddy forest tracks, dusty gravel roads, sandy trails and shallow fords. Grit and water on the disc put pads under extra stress, and this compound is designed for exactly those conditions.

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato describes this compound as its mixture for off-road riders. On the front of a Tiger 800 XCA used away from tarmac, it is meant to cope with dust, mud and water on the disc. Accossato's general aims for its pads also apply: controlled heat, slow wear and effective stopping.

A Day in the Dirt

An off-road day on a Tiger 800 XCA might include a muddy forest track in the morning, a dusty gravel road at midday and a river crossing in the afternoon. Each of those conditions affects the front brake. Mud and sand act as an abrasive, and water from a ford can leave the disc wet and gritty just before a descent. A front pad designed for off-road riding is made to keep working through all of that. It suits owners who plan routes with long unpaved sections.

Cleaning After a Ride

After a muddy day, rinse the calipers and discs with clean water, remove any stones or debris near the pads and check the pads for uneven wear. Dried mud accelerates wear if it is left on the brakes.

Fitment and Compatibility

AGPA29 belongs to the 2018 version of the XCA in Accossato's catalogue. Earlier XCA bikes, built from 2015 to 2017, are matched to AGPA72, so the two are not interchangeable by year. The rear wheel of all these bikes takes AGPP89. With one caliper's set per box, count the front calipers of your Tiger before ordering, and change the pads on both sides together.

Road Approval

There is no ABE and no test mark for AGPA29STMX. We sell it for competition use.
