DescriptionThe whole story▼
Not many motorcycles are kept as long as the Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa. The generation built from 2008 onwards is still in daily use, still turning up at speed events and still being polished on Sunday mornings by owners who have had the same machine for a decade or more. Bikes owned that long are judged by what can be maintained rather than by what is new. Accossato lists the Hayabusa for the FC122, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium with the pawl available in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa, 2008 to 2017
- Accossato lists the machine as GSX-R 1300 Hayabusa
- Made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and shutting the tank
- Pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Pawl available separately should it be damaged
- Fit to be confirmed against the application list
- No German ABE documented; supplied for track use
Construction and Material Quality
This cap is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and nothing else goes into it, which is what Accossato means when it calls the part robust and durable; the shape is a new one. The closure is a quick-closing pawl, so the Hayabusa's tank opens with a single movement and shuts with another. The pin in the pawl is where the colour lives, chosen from six shades as the order is placed. Accossato keeps that pawl in the catalogue as an individual spare, which is the detail that matters most on a machine somebody intends to keep.
Long Ownership, Small Parts
A motorcycle kept for ten or fifteen years is a series of small decisions rather than one big purchase. Consumables get replaced, finishes are renewed, and the parts that fail are usually the ones that move. That is precisely why a cap whose moving element is separately available is easier to live with than one sold as a sealed unit. If the pawl on this Hayabusa is knocked in the paddock or worn after years of use, the body of the cap stays where it is and a replacement pawl goes on. It is a modest piece of foresight on Accossato's part, and it fits the way long-term owners work: keep a small box of spares, note what you have used, and replace pieces before they become a problem on the morning of an event.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the machine appears as GSX-R 1300 Hayabusa with the years 2008 to 2017, which is the range this product covers. In our shop the FC122 is also filed under the GSX-R 1000, the GSX-S1000 and the GSR750. Match your bike against the application list before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC122, so it is a part for closed courses and events. For the road the Hayabusa keeps its factory cap, which normally opens with the ignition key.
