DescriptionThe whole story▼

The KTM 200 Duke is a light naked single that sells in large numbers in warm-climate markets, India in particular. Track days in those climates are ridden in heat that riders from cooler countries rarely meet, and heat changes the way fuel has to be handled, from the can in the paddock to the last drop in the tank. For the 200 Duke with ABS of 2020 and 2021, Accossato lists the FC127, a quick-release fuel tank cap cut entirely from aluminium on CNC machines, with a quick-closing pawl and a pin in the colour you prefer.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the KTM 200 Duke with ABS, 2020 and 2021
  • Machined completely from aluminium on CNC equipment
  • Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
  • Pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
  • Pawl can be ordered separately as a spare
  • Robust and durable according to Accossato; new design
  • No German ABE on record; for the circuit

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato makes the FC127 out of aluminium alone, machined on CNC equipment, and calls it robust and durable; the shape is newly drawn. A quick-closing pawl opens and closes the tank of the 200 Duke quickly, which keeps the filler open for as short a time as possible on a hot, dusty day, and the pawl's pin can be ordered in six colours. If it is ever damaged, the pawl can be replaced on its own.

Refuelling in the Midday Heat

In real heat, fuel behaves differently. It expands as it warms, gives off more vapour, and evaporates from a spill almost as fast as it lands, which makes a spill harder to see and the vapour easier to ignite. Plan the day around that. Keep the fuel can in the shade, off hot tarmac, and do not fill it to the top. After a session, let the 200 Duke stand with the engine off for a few minutes before you open the cap, so that the exhaust and engine are no longer at their hottest, and keep the spout well away from them while you pour. Leave room at the top of the tank rather than filling it to the brim, because fuel added in the cool of the morning will expand through the afternoon. Close the pawl, check the cap and wipe away any drips. Then look after yourself: drink water between every session, sit in the shade, and wet your neck and wrists before you ride again.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the Duke 200 with ABS, Accossato's list covers 2020 and 2021 with the FC127, and this product is limited to those two years. Please confirm the model year of your bike before ordering, or ask us. The 125 Duke, the 250 Duke and the RC 200 are among the bikes we list for the same cap.

Road Approval

Neither a German ABE nor a parts certificate is documented for the FC127, which is why we sell it for track use. The 200 Duke's original cap normally locks with the ignition key; for the road, keep it fitted.
