DescriptionThe whole story▼

A daily motorway commute of an hour each way, whatever the season, is how quite a few Kawasaki Versys 1000 S owners use their bike. The fairing keeps the weather off, the engine is relaxed at speed, and the bike is still there on the darkest December mornings. For the 2021 to 2024 Versys 1000 S, Accossato lists the AGPA109 front pad in the Sintered mixture, a compound chosen for that kind of all-weather reliability.

Key Features

  • Front pads AGPA109 for the Kawasaki Versys 1000 S, 2021 to 2024
  • Sintered mixture, SKU AGPA109ST
  • Accossato: high grip that does not drift with temperature
  • Good bite on a wet disc
  • Suits year-round commuting at motorway pace
  • EV1, EV2 and ZXC are the other compounds for this plate
  • No ABE held; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato bases its case for this compound on consistency: the grip level is described as high and stable, cold or hot, and it is said to work well in the wet. For a commuter on a Versys 1000 S, that means the first stop at the end of a frosty slip road feels like the last one on a mild evening. Keeping temperatures contained, Accossato adds, is how its pads fight fading. The sintered compound is joined to the standard AGPA109 plate.

Commuting Through Every Month

Motorway spray is one of the harshest environments for brakes. Water mixed with fine road dirt is flung onto the discs for mile after mile, and when the rider finally reaches the exit, the brakes must work immediately. A compound designed to grip on a wet disc helps here, and so does regular cleaning.

Hose the wheels and calipers gently with fresh water at the weekend, especially when roads have been salted. Measure the pad depth once a month in winter, since grit accelerates wear. The Versys 1000 S has twin front discs, so check both calipers and replace all four pads together.

Fitment and Compatibility

The Versys 1000 S from 2021 to 2024 takes AGPA109 at the front according to Accossato, while AGPP88 is its rear reference for the same years. No Accossato disc for this version is shown in our data. The front wheel carries a pair of calipers and each box is one set, which means two boxes for a full front change. Compare a used pad with the new outline before fitting.

Road Approval

AGPA109ST has no ABE or German approval paper that we could present. It is supplied for track use.

Scope of Delivery

Two Sintered pads for one of the front calipers.
