DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Brutale 800 suits riders who use their motorcycle all year rather than only on sunny weekends. Its three-cylinder engine is flexible enough for commuting and lively enough for a mountain road, and that versatility means it meets wet tarmac more often than a pure fair-weather bike. Rain changes what a rider needs from a brake lever. The Accossato EDF015 is a CNC-machined aluminium lever for the MV Agusta Brutale 800 of 2013 to 2015, adjustable for reach and made in short, standard and long versions.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Brutale 800, 2013 to 2015
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable, for example for thicker rain or winter gloves
- Long blade in blue, gold, green or orange
- Standard length approximately 138 mm in seven colours
- Anodised finish on CNC-machined aluminium
- Black hub and a fixed, hinge-free blade
Construction and Material Quality
Water and road grime are harder on a lever's finish than sunshine, and anodised aluminium copes with them better than paint. After CNC machining, the EDF015 is anodised so that its colour sits inside a sealed oxide layer grown from the metal itself; there is nothing on the surface to blister or lift. The hub, with the pivot and adjuster, is black; the blade is anodised in one of seven colours. The lever is fixed from end to end, with no joint in which water and dirt could collect.
Wet Roads, Thick Gloves
In the rain, two things change at once. The tyres have less grip, so the brake must be applied more gently, and the gloves grow thicker, stiffer and often wetter, which dulls the feel in your fingers. Waterproof gloves with knuckle protectors add bulk around the fingers, and a lever that sat right in dry weather may now feel crowded against the glove. That is the moment to move the EDF015 outwards a little, so that the gloved fingers have room to close around the blade. With more of each finger in contact, the fine, gradual squeeze a wet road demands becomes easier to control. The long blade adds leverage and gives gloved fingers more to hold; the standard length keeps the familiar feel. On the Brutale 800, a quick adjustment before setting off in the rain is time well spent, and it is reversed just as quickly once the road dries.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Brutale 800, the EDF015 covers the model years 2013 to 2015, and the lever fits the original MV Agusta master cylinder. Accossato's own list starts a little earlier, but this product follows the first real model year of the bike. The ESM048 clutch lever runs for longer, from 2013 to 2017, which means a Brutale 800 of the last two of those years is covered on the clutch side only.
Road Approval
Since this brake lever has no documented German ABE, it is offered for track use.
