DescriptionThe whole story▼
The RC 390 teaches a lesson that bigger bikes can hide: speed thrown away under braking has to be earned back with a small engine, and that takes a long time. Riders who get the most from it on a track day brake less rather than later, and carry their momentum through the corner, so the front brake becomes a tool for fine adjustment instead of a hammer. Made for the RC 390 of 2014 to 2019, Accossato's EDF039 is a milled aluminium brake lever with an adjustable reach that lets your fingers work it precisely.
Key Features

- Fits the original master cylinder
- Adjustable distance to the grip
- Blade lengths: short, standard (approximately 138 mm), long
- Blade in one of seven anodised colours, hub in black
- CNC-machined aluminium
- Fixed blade without a folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
Brushing the brake rather than squeezing it hard is the style described below, and it asks a lot of a lever's precision. The EDF039 is produced on CNC machines, which shape it from aluminium to the same dimensions every time, and then anodised. Its hub, black on every version, is where the lever turns and where the reach is set; the blade carries the colour. Because there is no hinge, the RC 390's front brake is controlled through one rigid piece of metal, so small changes in finger pressure are passed on as small changes, and the lever gives a clear sense of the point where the brake begins to bite.
Corner Speed Instead of Brake Force
On a powerful bike, a rider can brake deep, turn and let the engine make up for an early, cautious exit. On the RC 390 that does not work; every unnecessary loss of speed costs time along the whole straight that follows. The quicker approach is to brake just enough, often with a short, light application that does little more than settle the front and set the entry speed, and then to release the lever gradually as the bike leans in. That gradual release, trail braking in its gentlest form, depends on holding the lever at a small, steady pressure while the lean angle grows. Set the EDF039 so the blade sits under two fingers with your wrist in line with the forearm in the RC 390's crouch. Many riders choose the short blade for this, since it keeps the other fingers free for the throttle, which on a small bike opens again very early in the corner. Practise on a track or a closed course; on public roads, the same technique simply makes for smoother, calmer riding.
Fitment and Compatibility
Every RC 390 model year from 2014 to 2019 is covered by the EDF039, mounted on the stock master cylinder. Accossato's list opens before the bike was actually on sale; we start the product with the first real model year. The clutch side is covered by the ESK390, also for the RC 390 of 2014 to 2019; both can be ordered in one colour or in two.
Road Approval
The EDF039 is a track part in our range, because a German ABE has not been documented for it.
