The standard element for this airbox is one of the broadest-fitting parts in the Suzuki listing: four machines, two brands and three model families take it. The extreme-conditions element for the very same housing has a fitment list with one entry on it — this one. That gap is not an oversight in the catalogue, it is the clearest statement in it about who the medium was drawn for. The Sprint Filter T12 PM114T12 is a dry polyester special non-woven filtering to 7 microns, specified for off-road use, dust and desert conditions.
Key Features
- Filtration to 7 microns, the finest medium Sprint Filter makes
- Rated airflow of 560 litres per square metre per second, the figure a medium this fine carries
- Dry non-woven with no oil in it, so nothing can travel down onto the intake sensors
- Direct exchange in the unmodified series airbox: no cutting, no remap
- Regenerated with compressed air and used again rather than bought again
- Two years of Sprint Filter cover from the day of purchase
Reading a short fitment list
A long list usually means a housing shape shared across a platform — the airbox decides the part number, and the badge on the tank has little to do with it. A list of one means somebody made a judgement instead: that a single machine in that group is ridden where the finest medium earns its keep. Of the machines sharing this housing, the current 650 is the one Suzuki sells with wire-spoked wheels and gravel-road intentions attached to it. The catalogue has simply followed that. Your roads still decide, not the wheels.
What 560 litres asks of a middleweight
Handing over flow is the whole of the transaction. The P08 weave filters at 80 microns and passes a rated 5,050 litres per square metre per second; P037 sits at 37 microns and 4,500, P14 at 14 and 1,800, and this T12 at 7 and 560. Finer holds more back and lets less through — a trade, and there is no rung on that ladder that is simply better than another. If your 650XT spends its life on sealed roads with the occasional forest track at the end, the P08 is the right part and this is not. If dry, loose surfaces are a regular part of the route, the calculation turns round. Either way, no drop-in element makes a standard V-Strom noticeably stronger. What it does is keep the intake's share of the restriction low and steady between services, on a part that is cleaned rather than replaced.
Care and cleaning
Routine service for the PM114T12 is an air line held to its clean face, so the dust leaves by the side it arrived on. After a hard trip, wash it in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent and keep rinsing until the run-off is clear. Leave it in moving air until it is dry right through — never near heat, never over a flame — and refit it dry. Nothing about a T12 is ever oiled. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki V-Strom 650XT of 2017 to 2026, seated in the standard airbox in place of the original element. This medium is listed for that one machine; the Fitment tab shows it.
