The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
Two CFMOTO 800s sit in this catalogue, and their filter listings are mirror images of one another. The MT 800 is offered the standard weave, the racing weave and this 7-micron mat. The NK 800 is offered the standard weave, the racing weave and a 14-micron mat. Same manufacturer, same class, overlapping model years — and the fine end of the range lands on opposite sides. That asymmetry is the most interesting thing on this page, so it is worth reading correctly.
Key Features
- Dry polyester nonwoven rated at 7 microns, the densest medium in the Sprint Filter range
- Rated flow of 560 l/m²/sec through clean material
- Direct replacement for the paper panel in the standard airbox, with no remap
- Roughly double the filtering area of other performance elements
- Never treated with filter oil, so nothing is re-applied after a wash
- Regenerated with a compressed-air line, built for the motorcycle's service life, two years of warranty from purchase
What a media list is evidence of
Neither listing is a verdict on an engine. A code follows a housing, and a medium is cut for that housing when the manufacturer expects the question to be asked about the machines wearing it. So the pairing describes the terrain each of these two is likely to meet rather than how well either one breathes. Read that way it is a useful hint and nothing more: the MT 800 is the one of the pair whose owners are expected to leave the surface, and the mat in this listing is the answer to what they find there.
The honest limit of it
On sealed roads this element gives up something real and returns nothing you will ever notice. Five thousand and fifty against five hundred and sixty is not a subtlety, and the flow is surrendered on every kilometre while the retention is only collected in the hours that are genuinely dirty. It also does not make the bike stronger — no element in a series airbox does, and this one asks for a share of the intake it will not repay in power under any circumstances. It repays in what never reaches the rings.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air from the clean side outwards is the routine, and the direction is the whole technique: what the mat stopped leaves by the way it came in rather than being driven deeper. Caked or damp deposits release in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent, rinsed until the run-off is clear. Then moving air at room temperature for as long as it takes — no heat gun, no radiator, no flame — and the PM228T12 goes back in dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Cut for the airbox of the CFMOTO MT 800 built from 2022 to 2026, one element per machine, and listed for no other model. Order by the code and the model year.
