The 939 was built for three model years and has not been made since 2018. That matters for a part sold as a lifetime item, because the arithmetic only runs forwards. A washable element earns its keep across the services it replaces, so on a motorcycle already several years old the honest question is how many of those services are still ahead. Somebody planning to keep the bike is buying the last air filter it will ever need. Somebody listing it for sale in the spring is buying a nice line in the advert.
Key Features
- 14-micron dry nonwoven, the fine grade Sprint Filter catalogues for this Ducati housing
- 1,800 litres per square metre per second of flow, against 5,050 for the 80-micron weave
- Around double the filtering surface of an ordinary performance element
- Drops into the unmodified series airbox, one element per machine, no remap
- A dry medium throughout: no oiling step and nothing to reapply after washing
- Cleanable and reusable, specified for the life of the motorcycle, two-year warranty
The price tells you nothing here
In this airbox the fine nonwoven and the standard woven panel are listed within roughly a tenth of each other. There is no premium to weigh up and no reason to read the order of the two as a ranking. What separates them sits on the data sheet and nowhere else: 14 microns against 80, and 1,800 litres per square metre per second against 5,050. That is the whole decision, settled by the roads a Hypermotard 939 actually sees rather than by what either part costs.
The limits, stated before the benefits
This element will not make a standard 939 quicker. Nothing that slots into an unmodified airbox does, and a fine grade goes further by surrendering most of the standard flow rating for retention. If the bike lives on clean sealed roads the woven panel is better matched, and this page has no argument against it. The fine grade earns its place on dry, dusty, unswept surfaces — and even there the benefit is modest: a restriction that stays nearer its starting value across an interval, and a panel washed rather than bought again.
Care and cleaning
Maintenance is a bench job of a few minutes. An air line held to the clean side and worked outward drives the collected dust back out, and in normal use that is enough. For a heavier deposit, lukewarm water with a mild detergent, then a rinse until the run-off is clean. The element dries in moving air at room temperature — no heat gun, no flame, no shortcut — and the CM61P14 goes back in dry, with nothing sprayed or wiped on. The maintenance sheet is filed under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
Catalogued for the Ducati Hypermotard 939 of 2016 to 2018. The same code also fits the Hypermotard 950 / SP of 2019–2025, the Scrambler 800 of 2015–2023 and the Monster 1200 25° Anniversario of 2019, four machines in all. It does not fit the Hypermotard V2 of 2026: that is an 890 cc bike on a different airbox with its own code, PM279P14. Nor does it fit the earlier 821, which is listed for the standard element only.
