DescriptionThe whole story▼
A flip-back helmet lives or dies by its chin bar, because that section carries the locking mechanism, the front intake and the hinge loads every time it swings back. FX8700P is the factory replacement for the OXO in the small shell size, supplied in the moulded finish rather than as a bare shell, so a helmet that has taken a knock to the front can be put back to standard without replacing the whole helmet.
Key Features
- Original equipment part for the Shark OXO, made to the same mould and in the same material as the section fitted at the factory
- Small shell version: the OXO is produced in two shell sizes and the chin bars are not interchangeable between them
- Supplied in the factory finish, so the repaired helmet keeps a consistent surface rather than a painted approximation
- Carries the two-position unlock mechanism that lets the OXO be run as a full-face or swung back into its jet configuration
- Three finishes are catalogued under this number, identified by Shark's own finish codes rather than by colour names
- Sold as the chin bar section on its own; the visor, the sun visor and the internal padding stay with the helmet
Before you order
Two checks decide whether this is the right number. First the shell size: the small shell covers the lower half of the OXO size run, and a large-shell chin bar will not seat on it. Second the finish. Shark identifies the surface by an internal code, not by a colour word, and the same code appears in the article number of the part already on your helmet. Read the code off the original section and match it, rather than choosing by how the finish looks on screen.
Fitment
The price list names the OXO directly for this number, which makes the fitment a supplier statement rather than a deduction. No other Shark range shares this chin bar.
A note on structural repairs
A chin bar is a structural part of a helmet. If the section is being replaced because of a crash, the shell and the liner have taken the same impact even where nothing is visible, and the sensible course is to replace the helmet rather than the part. This number exists for damage that did not involve an impact to the head: a dropped helmet, a broken catch, a scuffed finish.
Supplied as
One chin bar section. Fitting hardware is not included and is reused from the helmet.
