A scored piston face means oil bypasses the shims entirely. A worn valve bleeds damping away without any visible symptom. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Original Öhlins Part

This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not.

How to Be Sure It Fits

05666-12 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Port area and shim seat geometry decide the damping curve before any adjuster is touched. The piston carries the shim stacks and meters the oil; its port layout is what makes an Öhlins damper behave the way it does.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05666-12

Category: Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05666-12_63a4d964-b689-407a-ab31-519c01606388.png?v=1788876995
