Function
This one measures 14 mm, 235.4 mm, and those figures are what separate it from the neighbouring numbers. A scored piston face means oil bypasses the shims entirely. Öhlins uses a piston band rather than metal-to-metal contact, which is what keeps the bore intact. Port area and shim seat geometry decide the damping curve before any adjuster is touched.
Genuine Service Part
An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Öhlins keeps service parts available for units long after they leave the current price list. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise.
Identifying the Right Part
Part number 06377-01 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. The published dimensions are diameter 14 mm, length 235.4 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. The piston carries the shim stacks and meters the oil; its port layout is what makes an Öhlins damper behave the way it does. Öhlins machines the ports rather than casting them, so the edges stay sharp and the flow predictable.
Fitting and Setup Service
We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.
