Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 05981-00

Function

This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Öhlins machines its pistons rather than sintering them, which is why the port edges stay sharp. The piston carries the shim stacks and meters the oil; its port layout is what makes an Öhlins damper behave the way it does. If it sticks open, the damper loses low-speed damping entirely.

Why the Original

An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue. Ask us before ordering if you are unsure: a wrong part in a pressurised unit is an expensive lesson.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 05981-00 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Öhlins does not publish a dimension here — go by the number and the exploded view. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually. Öhlins machines the ports rather than casting them, so the edges stay sharp and the flow predictable.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05981-00

Category: Check Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05981-00_758ad324-ec36-40e6-bcc2-2daf66b0de9d.png?v=1788877250
