DescriptionThe whole story▼
Engineered for the Ducati Panigale 959, the K-Tech 25IDS Open Cartridge Kit brings race-derived suspension technology to a platform that demands precision. Drawing on K-Tech's pedigree in World Superbike and British Superbike competition, this 25mm Independent Damping System cartridge replaces the standard fork internals with aerospace-grade components that are hard-anodised and super-finished for long-term reliability and a level of adjustability the OEM setup simply cannot match.
Key Features
- 25mm Independent Damping System (25IDS) delivers fully independent compression and rebound adjustment — tune each circuit without affecting the other
- 24 clicks of independent compression adjustment and 30 clicks of independent rebound adjustment for fine, repeatable damping control
- Increased stroke compared to the original cartridge, giving more suspension travel and improved chassis composure
- Aerospace-grade aluminium construction with hard-anodised, super-finished surfaces for durability and reduced friction
- Wide range of compatible springs (36-260 series) available separately, allowing the spring rate to be matched precisely to rider weight and use
- Installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre is recommended for correct setup and warranty compliance
Design, Finish and Heritage
K-Tech Suspension has spent decades supplying fork cartridge systems to professional race teams, and the 25IDS design carries that heritage directly into the road and track market. The hard-anodised, super-finished aluminium components are not merely an aesthetic choice — the surface treatment reduces stiction, allows the damping oil to flow more consistently across the full range of adjustment, and resists the corrosion that degrades performance over time. Every detail, from the machined adjuster caps to the precisely toleranced cartridge bore, reflects a product built to be serviced, re-valved and used indefinitely rather than replaced at a set interval.
Performance and Adjustability
The core advantage of the 25IDS architecture is genuine independence between the compression and rebound circuits. On the standard Panigale 959 fork, altering one damping characteristic inevitably influences the other. With 24 compression clicks and 30 rebound clicks operating independently, a rider can dial in the correct compression damping for a given circuit or road surface and then tune the rebound separately to control chassis settle and stability under braking and through direction changes. The suggested baseline settings — 14 compression clicks, 18 rebound clicks, 8 mm preload, and a 145 mm oil/air cap height — provide a proven starting point, with the full adjustment range available to move away from that baseline as conditions or preferences require. The increased stroke over the original cartridge is a further practical benefit, particularly for riders who regularly encounter circuit kerbs or roads where the standard travel proves insufficient.
Fitment and Compatibility
This cartridge kit is designed specifically for the Ducati Panigale 959, covering model years 2016 to 2019. It is supplied as an open cartridge unit; compatible springs from the 36-260 series must be ordered separately to complete the installation. Fitting by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre is strongly recommended to ensure correct cartridge positioning, oil fill and initial setup.
