The Facelift That Mattered
Yamaha gave the R3 inverted 37 mm KYB forks, R6-derived bodywork, a lower clip-on position and an LCD dash for 2019. The engine was left alone. It turned a competent small bike into one that genuinely looks and steers like a scaled sports machine.
Which Drilling You Need
Aligned means the two clamp bolts sit on a line square to the handlebar. If one is set ahead of the other, the offset version applies instead. It is a five-second check with the bike in front of you and the commonest cause of a return.
A Narrower Package
The dedicated aligned drilling sits closer to the master cylinder than the universal plate. On a small bike with limited bar space, particularly one carrying a lever guard for track use, that is a practical gain.
Three Model Years
The fitment covers 2019 to 2021. Yamaha revised the R3 again afterwards, and the earlier 2015 bike is a different machine electrically. The registration document rather than the shape is the reliable check.
Ridden Hard by Design
A 321 cc twin has to be revved to be quick, which means the rider is busy. Controls found by feel rather than by looking are worth more on a bike like this than on something with torque to spare.
Four Anodised Finishes
Black, titanium, blue and red. Blue matches Yamaha's racing scheme where the bodywork carries it; the others keep a modified cockpit coherent.
Sealed Construction
Elements sealed inside a body milled from one block. Small bikes live outdoors more often than large ones, and the absence of a moulded seam is what keeps water out over several winters.
