A Race Cluster on an Adventure Bike
It looks like a category error and it is not. Rally-prepared Tiger 900s exist in reasonable numbers, and a machine stripped for a road book event has no indicators, no horn and no reason to keep the controls that operated them.
Fewer, Larger, Further Apart
The remaining controls can be spaced properly once the road set is gone. On a bike being ridden standing up over rough ground in heavy gloves, that spacing is worth considerably more than it is on a circuit machine.
The T-Plane Triple
Uneven firing intervals give the 900 distinct torque pulses that let a rear tyre recover between power strokes. It is the reason the Rally versions work as well as they do on loose surfaces, and it is the engine's defining characteristic.
Standard Loom
No racing harness and no aftermarket dashboard. Triumph's connector is used and the factory electronics continue to function, so the off-road riding modes and the traction settings remain available.
Dust and Impact
A rally-prepared adventure bike meets both. Sealed elements inside a one-piece milled body handle the first; the solid construction handles the second, where a clipped moulding at the end of a wide bar does not.
Three Anodised Finishes
Black, titanium and copper, all through the surface rather than applied on top. A scuff dulls the component instead of exposing bright metal.
Rally Preparation
A Tiger 900 built for a road book event loses its lights, its mirrors and usually its screen. The switchgear is one of the last things addressed, and it is the one that decides whether the rider can operate the bike wearing motocross gloves.
Three Finishes
Black, titanium and copper, all anodised through the surface rather than coated on top of it. A knock dulls the component instead of leaving a bright scar.
