DescriptionThe whole story▼
Forward controls change the way a rider uses a motorcycle. On an XDiavel the feet sit ahead of the body, the right foot rests rather than hovers, and the rear brake is operated with a movement that comes from the ankle instead of the toes. Riders who come to the bike from a sports machine take a while to adjust, and once they have, they tend to use the rear brake more than they used to. Accossato's TS012 caps its fluid reservoir in machined, anodised aluminium.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati XDiavel
- Accossato lists 2016 to 2020, S version included
- Fits in place of the original cap on the standard reservoir
- Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- Accossato catalogues the same cap for many other machines
- No German ABE available; listed for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The TS012 is machined in aluminium on CNC equipment and anodised afterwards in one of seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver or gold. Anodising colours the metal itself, which is the right approach for a part that spends its life close to the road and gets cleaned more often than admired. Accossato produces it for the rear reservoir fitted to the machines on its application list, so an XDiavel keeps its braking system as built and changes only the cap. Look at the diaphragm under the original while you have it in your hand, and fit a new one if it is stiff, torn or misshapen.
Forward Controls and the Right Foot
Because the rear brake gets used, it is worth including in the annual round of checks rather than leaving it to the service schedule alone. Stand the XDiavel upright so the reservoir sits level, and clean the top of it before anything is opened; a heavy machine picks up a good deal of road film and none of it belongs inside the circuit. Lay a cloth over the paint and chrome nearby and keep water within reach, because brake fluid marks both and gives no warning. Check that the level lies between the marks, note the colour of the fluid, and look up the interval in the owner's manual. Fluid takes in moisture from the air over the years, so the schedule applies regardless of how gently the bike is ridden, and renewing it is a workshop job that finishes with a proper bleed. Close the reservoir promptly, fit the TS012 with gentle, even pressure, and press the pedal several times before the first ride. The ankle will tell you immediately if anything feels different.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list covers the rear reservoir of the XDiavel from 2016 to 2020 and names the S version in the same entry. The TS012 replaces the original cap; if the rear master cylinder is not standard, check against that list before ordering. The same part is listed at Inter-Pace for the DesertX, the Hypermotard 939 and Benelli's TRK 502, a reminder that this reservoir design appears far beyond one model.
Road Approval
We hold neither an ABE nor a test document for the TS012, so it is catalogued for racing and competition use.
