DescriptionThe whole story▼

This Accossato 16x18 brake master cylinder matches the single-disc 16 mm piston and the fixed 18 mm pivot distance of its folding-lever sibling, but with a rigid fixed lever that carries no folding joint of its own. It is aimed at riders on single-disc adventure and roadster motorcycles who want the plainest, most solid lever feel available on this part number. The body is CNC-machined aluminium, anodised black in Italy, with the long lever carrying a relieving eyelet and offered in seven colours.

Key Features

  • 16 mm piston diameter, sized for single-disc front brake systems
  • Fixed 18 mm lever pivot distance for track use that also suits the road
  • Fixed lever, long version, with relieving eyelet (RST), no folding blade joint
  • Seven lever colours with a colour-matched adjusting knob
  • CNC-machined aluminium body with black anodised finish
  • Offset riser that limits master cylinder deflection under braking
  • Stainless steel screws and a galvanised steel bleed valve
  • Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material

Construction and Material Quality

This master cylinder shares its manufacturing process with the rest of the Accossato braking range: an aluminium body CNC-machined to shape and black anodised in Italy. Stainless steel screws fix the assembly to the bar, the bleed valve is galvanised steel, and the seals are a Formula 1 compound specified for long-term resistance to brake fluid and heat. An off-set riser built into the clamp keeps the body from flexing under hard lever pressure, and the passive stroke, the travel before the pads engage, is more than 50 percent shorter than on a conventional radial master cylinder.

Single-Disc Sizing, Fixed-Lever Feel

The 16 mm piston here is sized by Accossato for single-disc brake systems, and the pivot distance is fixed at 18 mm, the same figure the 19 mm version uses and one the manufacturer rates for track days and the road alike. What separates this unit from its folding counterpart is the lever itself: a single rigid piece with no pivot between the blade and the clamp, so braking effort travels through the lever without any joint to absorb it. Riders moving from a folding lever often describe this fixed version as feeling more direct at the very start of the pull, since there is no play to take up before the piston starts to move, while the overall stopping power is unchanged from the folding version sharing this same 16x18 specification.

Fitment and Compatibility

The confirmed fitment count for this brake master cylinder stands at 54 motorcycles, Kawasaki's naked and sport-touring range well covered through the Versys 1000, ER-6N and Z650, plus Suzuki's V-Strom 650. See the Fitment tab on this page for every model and year, and check it against your own registration before buying.

Road Approval

This brake master cylinder carries no ABE documented for this part number, so it is intended for track and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

The package contains the Accossato CL028 radial master cylinder complete with the long fixed lever with relieving eyelet (RST), in the lever colour selected, and the matching colour-anodised adjusting knob. Stainless steel mounting screws and the galvanised bleed valve are fitted; the stop light switch and fluid reservoir are not included and are ordered separately (switch under code ID001 or ID002, reservoir as a standalone item).
