DescriptionThe whole story▼
Underground car parks are hard on motorcycles. The ramps are steep and often curved, their surface has been painted or polished smooth by car tyres, and water drips from the ceiling onto the concrete. An Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 ridden down such a ramp at walking pace, front brake on and bars turned, can lose its grip and go over before the rider has time to react. For the Dorsoduro 900 of 2018, Accossato lists its TP052 crash pads: machined aluminium with an insert anodised in one of six colours.
Key Features
- Crash pads for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900, model year 2018
- Aluminium, CNC-machined according to Accossato
- Anodised insert in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Optional screw cover in the insert colour
- Two pads per pack
- Ask us before ordering whether drilling is required on your bike
- No German ABE on file; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
CNC equipment shapes the TP052 from aluminium, and each pad carries an anodised insert. That insert is where colour comes in: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold, chosen at the time of ordering. You also decide whether you want a screw cover; if you do, it arrives in the same colour as the insert. Two pads make up the set. Should the Dorsoduro 900 fall, they are meant to be what touches down first, and in doing so they can reduce the damage to frame and bodywork.
Down the Ramp at Walking Pace
Car park ramps catch riders out because everything happens slowly and seems harmless. Stop at the top, look at the surface and choose your line: the driest strip is often the one worn by car tyres, but painted arrows and drainage channels cross it. Keep the Dorsoduro 900 as upright as you can, control your speed with the rear brake, use the front only gently, and never brake hard while turning. On the way up, a steady throttle is kinder than stopping halfway, and if you must stop, do it with the bike straight. Barriers and ticket machines add a further test, because you halt on a slope and reach out with one hand. Hold the bike on the rear brake while you do so and keep it in gear. Once parked, make sure the side stand rests on bare concrete rather than a painted marking or a drain grille, and check the pads if the bike ever goes down.
Fitment and Compatibility
In Accossato's application list the TP052 is entered for the Dorsoduro 900 of 2018 only. Other years are not covered by that row, so please ask us if your bike was built earlier or later. Accossato's crash pads need the fairing drilled on certain motorcycles, and because the list does not say which, we recommend checking with us before ordering whether your Dorsoduro 900 is affected. Accossato also lists the PF031 front axle sliders for this bike, and the same pads for the Dorsoduro 1200 and the Shiver 900.
Road Approval
We do not have a German ABE or a test certificate for the TP052, and so we supply it for the track and for competition.
Scope of Delivery
