DescriptionThe whole story▼

Not every fall happens out on the trail. In garages and workshops bikes topple off stands with depressing regularity: a wheel removed, a stand knocked, a shove while loosening an axle nut, and the Sherco SEF 250 four-stroke drops onto a concrete floor. On a hard floor the lever that lands first can break as easily as on rock. Accossato's C7283 for the SEF 250 of 2014 to 2022 is a folding clutch lever, CNC-machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy, with a long blade that suits four fingers.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the Sherco SEF 250 four-stroke, model years 2014 to 2022
  • Fits the original clutch mount in place of the standard lever
  • Long blade designed for four fingers
  • Anti-break joint allows the blade to fold forward
  • CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
  • Blade in black, blue, orange or red; base finished dark
  • No German ABE; for off-road and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

Look closely at the C7283 on the bench and you will find no casting marks, because Accossato machines it in Italy from a solid block of Ergal 7075, a strong aluminium alloy, with the goal of a lever that is sturdy, light and dependable. The dark base carries the pivot at the clutch mount; the blade, in the colour you ordered, is attached to it by a folding joint and is long enough for four fingers.

Off the Stand, Onto the Concrete

Workshop falls usually happen during the most routine jobs. When a rear tyre is being changed, the bike is balanced on a stand with its weight shifted; with the front wheel out, it is held only by the stand under the frame. One careless push and it slides off. On the way down the handlebar swings round, and the lever on the lower side meets the floor first.

Concrete is unforgiving. A solid lever can bend or snap on it, and then the ride planned for the weekend starts with a trip to the parts counter. On the C7283 the blade is able to give way forward on its joint, so it has a better chance of surviving a drop off a stand. It will not come through every accident, but for a Sherco SEF 250 that, like most four-stroke enduros, spends a fair amount of time in the workshop between rides, that is a practical advantage.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato catalogues the C7283 for the four-stroke Sherco SEF 250 over the years 2014 to 2022. The folding brake lever for the same bike and years is the B8282. Black and orange are available on both, and blue and red on the clutch lever alone.

Road Approval

The C7283 has no German ABE; on a road-registered SEF 250 it is not approved for public roads. It is meant for off-road and competition use.

Scope of Delivery

The C7283 clutch lever on its own, with the blade in the colour you choose.
