DescriptionThe whole story▼

Autumn is a fine season for enduro, until the leaves come down. A carpet of wet leaves hides roots, rocks and holes, and it can turn a familiar trail into something that feels new and treacherous. On a TM Racing EN 250 four-stroke, much of the trick lies in the front brake: firm enough to control the speed, gentle enough not to lock the front wheel on a leaf lying across a root. Accossato's B8206 is a folding brake lever for the EN 250 four-stroke from 2002 to 2019, CNC-machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy.

Key Features

  • Folding front brake lever for the TM Racing EN 250 four-stroke, 2002 to 2019
  • Two version groups in Accossato's list: 2002–2009 and 2010–2019
  • Fits the original front brake master cylinder in place of the stock lever
  • Shorter blade shaped for three fingers
  • Anti-break hinge allows the blade to fold in a fall
  • CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
  • Blade in black, blue, gold or red on a dark base
  • No German ABE documented; for off-road use

Construction and Material Quality

The B8206 is milled from solid Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy with high strength, on CNC machines in Italy. Accossato wants three things from the result: strength, low weight and reliability. The lever is made of two parts, a dark base that fits the original master cylinder and a blade in black, blue, gold or red that is attached by a hinge and can fold away from the base. The brake blade is shorter than Accossato's clutch blade and meant for three fingers, leaving the rest of the hand around the grip.

Wet Leaves on the Trail

Leaves change how braking works. Beneath them the ground may be dry earth, slick clay or a root polished smooth, and there is no way to see which. Riders learn to brake before the leaf-covered stretch, on ground they can read, and to roll through it with the front brake only lightly applied. A four-stroke's engine braking helps to slow the EN 250 four-stroke without touching the lever at all, but on a steep, leafy descent the front brake is still needed, and it has to be used with care.

Sometimes the front tyre still finds a hidden root at an angle and slides off it. The bike goes down on the spot, and the brake lever lands on whatever lies under the leaves, sometimes soft earth, sometimes a stone. If the landing is hard, the B8206's blade can fold forward on its hinge rather than snap. That gives the TM a fair chance of carrying on with an intact brake lever, which is welcome when the rest of the descent is still covered in leaves. It cannot promise to come through every fall, and a lever that has folded should be checked before the next steep section.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the TM Racing EN 250 four-stroke, Accossato gives the B8206 two version groups, 2002 to 2009 and 2010 to 2019, covering 2002 to 2019 without a gap. The lever sits on the original front brake master cylinder. The C7283 clutch lever from the same folding range only fits the bikes from 2010, so a pre-2010 EN 250 four-stroke can be converted on the brake side alone. Of the four brake-lever colours, gold is the one the clutch lever does not share.

Road Approval

The B8206 has no documented German ABE. The EN 250 four-stroke is a registered enduro in many countries, but fitted with this lever it is not approved for public roads; it is intended for off-road riding.
