DescriptionThe whole story▼
A touring bike spends a surprising amount of time standing still while someone climbs on or off. On the Moto Guzzi Norge 1200, the risky moment comes when a passenger mounts before the rider has the bike upright and braced: the weight shifts, the side stand is loaded at the wrong angle and a heavy tourer can topple. For the Norge 1200 of 2006 to 2017, Accossato makes the LV008, a clutch lever with adjustable reach whose blade is hinged to its base and can fold away if it is struck.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Moto Guzzi Norge 1200, 2006 to 2017
- Works with the original clutch master cylinder
- Blade hinged to a black base, able to fold away if struck
- Reach to the grip adjustable on the base
- Choice of RST blade with lightening cut-out or plain NRST blade
- Seven colours: black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver
- Standard length
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The LV008 is made in two parts, both machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and then anodised. The base is black. It sits on the pivot of the Norge's clutch master cylinder and carries the adjuster that sets the gap between blade and grip. The blade, in the colour you order, is joined to the base by a hinge; when you pull the lever, base and blade move together, and the hinge only matters if the blade takes a knock. You can have the blade with Accossato's RST cut-out, which removes a little material and saves a little weight, or as a plain NRST blade without the opening.
When the Passenger Climbs On
The safe order for riding two-up is simple. The rider gets on first, lifts the Norge 1200 off its side stand, puts both feet down, holds the front brake and only then gives the passenger the signal to climb aboard. Getting off works in reverse. Tip-overs at a standstill often happen when that order breaks down: a passenger swings a leg over while the bike is still leaning on its stand, or steps onto a footpeg before the rider is ready. A tourer loaded with luggage forgives very little once it leans past the point of no return. If it goes over to the left, the end of the handlebar, and with it the clutch lever, is likely to reach the ground, and a fixed blade can break off there. The LV008's hinged blade may fold instead, which reduces the chance of being left without a usable clutch in a hotel car park far from home. It is no substitute for the routine, only a second line of defence. Agree on a signal with your passenger before the first trip on the Norge 1200, and practise it until it happens without words.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the LV008 for the Norge 1200 from 2006 to 2017, and it fits the original clutch master cylinder. A folding brake lever for this bike does not appear on Accossato's list. Riders who prefer fixed levers can choose the EDF016 for the brake and the ESC080 for the clutch, both listed for 2006 to 2017, and a fixed brake lever also pairs well with this folding clutch lever.
Road Approval
Road use in Germany is not covered by any documented ABE for the LV008; we sell it for the circuit.
