DescriptionThe whole story▼
Close the throttle on a Griso 1200 8V and the big four-valve twin slows the bike firmly before the brakes are even touched. That engine braking is useful, but it has to be managed at the clutch when changing down: let the lever out too quickly after a downshift and the rear tyre has to absorb a sudden jolt. The Accossato ESC080 is a clutch lever for the Griso from 2007 to 2016. It uses the existing clutch mounting; the reach is adjustable, the material CNC-machined aluminium.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 8V (SE), 2007 to 2016
- Replaces the original lever at the clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable close to the pivot
- Standard length approximately 138 mm in every colour
- Long blade in blue, gold, green and orange
- Machined aluminium, anodised, with a black hub
- Fixed blade, no folding joint
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Machined on CNC equipment from a solid blank and then anodised, the ESC080 has a black hub, holding the pivot and reach adjuster, and a blade in your chosen colour. The anodised surface is hard and does not peel, and the milled edges stay crisp. The lever is a fixed design: blade and hub are one piece, with no hinge in between. That rigidity lets the clutch's engagement be felt precisely at the fingertips, which matters whenever you release it gradually.
Downshifting a Big Twin Smoothly
A large V-twin produces strong engine braking, and on a shaft-driven bike like the Griso, a hurried downshift sends it straight to the rear wheel. The cure is a measured release. Pull the clutch, select the lower gear and let the lever out over a short but deliberate movement, adding a small blip of throttle if you like, so that engine speed rises to meet road speed instead of being dragged up by the rear tyre. On a wet or bumpy road, give that release even more time. The technique needs a lever positioned so the fingers can control the last part of its travel. With the ESC080 set a little closer to the grip, the fingers stay bent as the clutch re-engages, and the release becomes a controlled roll rather than a snap. Riders who find the pull heavy after a long day may prefer the long blade for its extra leverage.
Fitment and Compatibility
We offer the ESC080 for the Griso 1200 8V of 2007 to 2016. Although Accossato's catalogue starts its Griso entries somewhat sooner, this product follows the 8V from its launch onwards. The lever takes the place of the original at the Griso's clutch mounting. On the brake side, Accossato pairs it with the EDF016 for the same 2007 to 2016 span. Black and red blades are standard-size only, and silver adds a short version.
Road Approval
The ESC080 comes without a documented ABE for German roads, so it is sold for track use.
