DescriptionThe whole story▼
A GSX-R1000R spends time in traffic and car parks, where a lever meets a mirror. The ISS200RT is LighTech's GC-Tech brake guard for the GSX-R1000R, Made in Italy, 39.6 g. The guard body is fixed; only the bushes vary, in 7 colours. It is the cheapest safety part you can bolt to a GSX-R1000R.
Key Features
- Original GSX-R1000R controls stay exactly where they are
- Meets the lever-guard requirement most track organisers apply to the GSX-R1000R
- 132 mm guard length of span in front of the GSX-R1000R brake lever
- 7 bush colours, all at the same price
- Bar-end weights come off the GSX-R1000R; nothing else does
- Prevents an unplanned front-wheel lock on the GSX-R1000R if another machine reaches the lever
What You Get
The ISS200RT is supplied as one guard for one side of the GSX-R1000R. Bushes are part of the guard; the adapter for the GSX-R1000R is the value chosen under “Adapter”. If the GSX-R1000R needs a replacement later, nothing else has to come off.
The Failure It Stops
A brake lever guard has one job, and it is not cosmetic. The ISS200RT reaches past the lever tip at 132 mm guard length, so an impact arrives on the guard first. At 39.6 g the ISS200RT adds less to the GSX-R1000R than the bar-end weight it replaces.
Fitment and Compatibility
LighTech's fitment for the ISS200RT is the GSX-R1000R (2017 to 2026). Fitting needs the correct adapter for the GSX-R1000R — see the note below.
Fitting It to the Bike
The ISS200RT goes on with the GSX-R1000R on its stand and nothing dismantled. With the adapter in place the guard bolts on and is set for angle before final tightening. Mirrors and bar-end weights have to come off the GSX-R1000R first.
Before You Order
The ISS200RT needs a mount that suits the bar of the GSX-R1000R. The mount screws into the GSX-R1000R bar from the inside, which is why the bore matters. For this bike the adapter is KPL327, preselected as “With Adapter KPL327” in the option above. Riders who keep their KPL327 and only renew the ISS200RT on the GSX-R1000R choose “Without Adapter”.
Regulations and Road Use
On track the brake lever guard is usually not optional. LighTech supplies no road type approval with the ISS200RT and we make no approval claim. For road use on a GSX-R1000R in Germany, clarify with your inspection body whether the fitted guard is acceptable.
