A Sport Tourer With No Manners
KTM added a fairing, an adjustable screen, panniers and cruise control to the Super Duke and left the 1301 cc twin producing 175 hp. It is the fastest way to cross a country carrying luggage that anyone has yet marketed as sensible.
The 2019 Update
This generation brought the revised chassis from the 2017 Super Duke R along with better wind protection and semi-active WP suspension. It is a considerably more resolved motorcycle than the first GT and it sold accordingly.
Aligned Clamp Geometry
Square to the bar, matching KTM's factory Brembo. On a touring machine the brake is changed less often than on a track bike, which makes this the more likely drilling on a used GT.
A Crowded Handlebar
Bar risers, a navigation cradle, a phone mount and often a heated clothing controller. Touring riders accumulate hardware, and the dedicated drilling recovers a few millimetres in the most contested part of the bar.
Repetition Across Whole Days
Mode changes, cruise control adjustments and display navigation, worked continuously rather than intensively. That accumulation is what turns a definite button into a vague one, and it happens slowly enough to go unnoticed for years.
Sealed for Sustained Rain
The fairing sends air over the rider's chest rather than around the hands, so water tracks along the bar and reaches the switch regardless. Sealed elements inside a one-piece body are the practical answer.
Two Finishes
Black and orange, anodised through the surface rather than painted onto it. On a cockpit carrying a large display and several mounts, black is generally the one that disappears.
