Fuel Around the Engine
KTM's 2021 redesign moved the 23 litre tank from above the motor to a low-slung arrangement flanking it. The centre of gravity dropped substantially and a very large motorcycle became noticeably easier to manage at walking pace.
A Hundred and Sixty Horsepower
The LC8 in adventure tune still makes more than most sports bikes of a decade ago, with a torque curve that starts working immediately. It is why these motorcycles cover distance the way they do.
Aligned Clamp Geometry
The two clamp bolts sit on a line square to the handlebar, which is KTM's factory arrangement. The dedicated drilling is narrower than the universal plate and recovers space on a bar that is invariably crowded on this bike.
What Accumulates on the Bar
Hand guards, a navigation cradle, a phone mount and often auxiliary light switches. Adventure motorcycles gather hardware faster than anything else, and every millimetre of tube matters by the time the cockpit is finished.
Long Days, Cold Hands
Mode changes on varying surfaces, cruise control on transits, the display when navigating. Operated in thick gloves for months of the year, where a machined step is the only reliable way to distinguish one control from the next.
Sealed for Real Weather
Elements sealed inside a body milled from one block. These bikes are ridden when the forecast is poor, and the absence of a moulded seam is what keeps the controls accurate at the end of a wet fortnight.
Black Anodised
One finish, converted into the surface. On a handlebar already carrying guards and mounts, black is the option that adds nothing to the visual clutter.
