The extension cover is the vented piece that sits above the headlight, ahead of the centre cover. It is taller and more sculpted than the flat panel behind it, and the two ducts moulded into it are the reason it exists rather than a styling flourish.

The Ducts Are Not Decoration
Air enters here and goes somewhere. A replacement that narrowed the openings would change that, which is why the moulding follows the original geometry rather than tidying it up. Compare the apertures against the part you removed before fitting; they should match edge for edge.
This is also the piece most likely to be confused with the centre cover when ordering, because both are described as covers and both sit above the headlight. The extension is the vented, curved one; the centre cover is the flatter panel behind it.
Fitment and Compatibility
BMW S1000R, model years 2013 to 2020, on the original fixings. The 2021 model uses a different front end. If in doubt which of the two covers your motorcycle has, send us a photograph of the front and we will confirm before you order.
Road Approval
Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. It does not alter the headlight, but confirm the position for your own registration before road use.
Shape, Not Surface
Unlike the flat blades either side, this piece is all curvature, and that changes what a finish does. Gloss follows a curved surface and describes its shape; matt flattens it into a silhouette.
On a part whose whole interest is its form, clear coat has more to show than it does on the blades. That is the opposite of the usual advice in this catalogue, and it is the reason a mixed front end of matt blades and a gloss extension can work where most mixtures do not.
