DescriptionThe whole story▼

Owners who order a new front disc for a Street Triple 675 RX often hope it will transform the way the bike stops. A fresh disc restores a lot, but the feel at the lever depends on several parts working together, and it helps to know which part does what. For the RX of 2015 to 2016, Accossato's list shows the DK203, a floating front disc with a black carrier and a 310 mm friction ring, interchangeable with the original equipment disc.

Key Features

  • Floating front disc for the Triumph Street Triple 675 RX, 2015 to 2016
  • 310 mm outer diameter, 82 mm inner diameter
  • 4 mm thick friction ring
  • Interchangeable with the original equipment disc
  • Black carrier
  • Minimum thickness printed on the disc
  • One disc supplied; two fitted at the front
  • No German ABE on record; for circuit use

Construction and Material Quality

On the DK203, braking ring and black carrier are separate parts linked by rivets. The float between them lets the ring expand with heat on its own and settle back as it cools. Accossato says it learned how to balance the tolerances and clearance between these parts in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and that it selects its raw materials with care. The company further claims that keeping a disc's weight down helps a motorcycle steer.

What a New Disc Can and Cannot Do

A new disc brings back a flat surface at full thickness. If the old disc was warped, the pulse at the lever goes; if it was worn thin, the brake regains its full capacity to absorb heat. Those are real gains. The bite, however, the initial grab as the pads meet the disc, is largely a matter of the pad compound. A lever that feels spongy or comes back too far points to air or old fluid in the system, or to hoses that swell under pressure, not to the disc. A brake that squeals may need clean calipers and properly seated pads. And the tyre decides how much of the braking force actually reaches the road.

So when you renew the discs on a Street Triple 675 RX, look at the rest of the chain as well: pads with plenty of life, fresh fluid, calipers that move freely and a tyre in good condition. Treat it as a complete overhaul, and the result at the lever will match what you hoped for when you ordered the disc.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the DK203 for the Street Triple 675 RX of 2015 to 2016, replacing an original front disc. The RX has two front discs and the price covers one. According to the same list, the standard Street Triple 675 and the 675 R of 2013 to 2016 use this disc as well. Levers Accossato lists for the RX include the EDF035 and the EST333.

Road Approval

We have no German ABE or type approval on record for the DK203; it is a part for track and competition riding.
