DescriptionThe whole story▼
Aprilia added the Caponord 1200 Rally in 2015 as the more adventure-minded version of its big touring twin. The name points to unpaved roads, and those are where a clutch lever is most likely to meet the ground: a rut catches the front wheel at walking pace, the bike leans over, and the left bar lands in the dirt. Accossato's LV008 clutch lever for the Caponord 1200 Rally of 2015 and 2016 has a coloured blade on a hinge, able to fold away, and its reach is adjustable.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Aprilia Caponord 1200 Rally, 2015 and 2016
- Fits the original clutch master cylinder
- Folding joint between base and blade
- Reach adjustable to the hand
- RST blade with a lightening cut-out, or the solid NRST blade
- Seven anodised blade colours: black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver
- Standard length
- Track use, as no German ABE is documented
Construction and Material Quality
A folding lever has one more joint than a solid one, so the quality of the machining matters. Accossato mills both parts of the LV008 from aluminium on CNC machines: the black base, which stays at the pivot and carries the reach adjuster, and the blade, which takes the colour and swings on its hinge. Both are anodised after machining. That finish does not flake the way paint can, although a slide across stones will still leave marks. For the Caponord 1200 Rally, the blade comes in seven colours, with or without the RST cut-out.
A Spare in the Tank Bag
On a long trip with the Caponord 1200 Rally, the nearest dealer can be a day's ride away, and a clutch lever snapped off at its root is not something tape will fix. Two habits help. The first is the folding blade itself: when the bike goes down on a gravel track, the hinge can let the blade fold back, which reduces the chance of breaking it off. The second is to carry a spare. A lever is small and flat enough to travel in a tank bag or under the seat, wrapped in a cloth, along with the tool that fits your bike's pivot bolt. If the blade does break in an awkward fall, you swap it at the roadside and ride on. Either way, check the reach adjuster and the pivot after any drop before trusting the clutch again. Accossato itself has history away from the tarmac: it took an enduro world title in 1985.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the LV008 for the ETV 1200 Caponord Rally of 2015 to 2016. It replaces the clutch lever at the Rally's original master cylinder. No Accossato brake lever, folding or fixed, is listed for the Caponord 1200 Rally, so the LV008 stands alone on this bike. The same part number also appears for the standard Caponord 1200 of 2013 to 2016, which we offer as a separate product.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for the LV008, so it is sold for use on racing circuits.
