DescriptionThe whole story▼

A weekday on a V7 III Stone looks nothing like the brochure: a queue at the lights, a van double-parked, a roundabout, then another queue. Moto Guzzi's simplest V7 III is a popular bike for exactly this kind of riding, manageable in town and relaxed on the way home, and in traffic the left hand works harder than the right. The Accossato ESD037 is a machined aluminium clutch lever for the Stone of 2017 to 2020, with an adjustable distance to the grip and a choice of short, standard and long blades.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the V7 III Stone, 2017 to 2020
  • Also named for the V7 Carbon and Rough of 2018 to 2020
  • Replaces the stock lever at the factory clutch mounting
  • Adjustable distance to the grip
  • Long blade for a lighter pull in blue, gold, green and orange
  • Standard length about 138 mm in every colour
  • CNC-machined, anodised aluminium with a black hub, no folding joint

Construction and Material Quality

Commuting means rain, road grime and a bike that often stands outside. The ESD037 is CNC-machined from aluminium and then anodised, which leaves a hard, integral oxide surface instead of a paint film that could blister. Aluminium does not rust, and the anodised layer adds protection against the weather; a wipe with a damp cloth is all the care the lever needs. The hub, with its pivot and adjuster, is always black, while the blade is finished in the colour you pick. From end to end the lever is rigid.

Dozens of Pulls Before Work

Count the clutch pulls on a typical ride to work and the total is surprising: every set of lights, every junction and every crawl behind a bus calls for the lever, and some of them ask you to hold it for a while. On the V7 III Stone, a lever within easy reach turns that work into something you hardly notice. Set the ESD037 so that your fingers close around the blade without the hand opening wide, and every pull starts from a relaxed position. At a long red light, shifting into neutral rests both the hand and the clutch, and with the reach set well, selecting first again when the lights change is quick and tidy. If your route is mostly stop-and-go, the long blade is worth considering because it needs the least force. The short blade suits riders used to working the clutch with two fingers; the standard blade is the closest match to the lever the Stone left the factory with.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's list names the ESD037 for the V7 III Stone from 2017 to 2020, and the same entry covers the Carbon and Rough models of 2018 to 2020. The lever mounts where the original sits. For the front brake, the EDF016 is listed for the same model years.

Road Approval

The ESD037 has no German ABE on file. We sell it for use on closed tracks.
